Almac Launches Clinical Trials Shipping Service

“Direct to Patient” shipping adds flexibility for clinical trial participants

Almac has launched its “Direct to Patient” shipping service for clinical trials, aimed at increasing efficiencies in the management of clinical trials and the supply chain. The service is available for clinical studies conducted throughout the U.S. and Canada.

The new service expands existing clinical trial distribution, providing coordination of clinical trial (including temperature and non-temperature controlled) material shipments from clinical sites directly to patient’s homes throughout the U.S. and Canada. Almac has performed due diligence to adhere with U.S. federal, state and Canadian regulations.

This service offers enhanced flexibility for clinical trial patients and reduces on-site clinic visits. According to the company, the Direct to Patient service is in response to increasing sponsor demand and enables trial sponsors to move closer to the patients participating in the trials, regardless of their proximity to study sites.

Donna Christopher, global vice president of Operations at Almac, said, “Our innovative direct to patient solution offers sponsors a flexible and cost effective approach to conduct their clinical trials which improves patient experience, compliance and efficiency whilst reducing the burden associated with patient retention. We firmly believe this addresses significant challenges currently experienced by our sponsors and Almac are delighted to offer this as part of our established clinical supply solutions.”
